Area Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet cognizant of any injuries in connection with the event," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
